Alan Hanafin Design is a custom furniture and bespoke woodwork supplier that designs and produces modern hand crafted pieces with an emphasis on fine detail and customer satisfaction.
Alan takes great pride in his craftsmanship and unique style, and the individual quality and functionality of his work are of great importance to him.
He uses a combination of traditional handcraft woodworking techniques to create his furniture, fusing hardwoods with modern materials like glass, resins and metal.
Alan is committed to creating quality pieces for your home that future generations will enjoy. He doesn’tmanufacture, he hand makes. Each piece is unique and treated with individual care.
It is of the utmost importance to him that only the best quality locally and internationally sourced sustainable hardwoods and materials are used.
These selectively harvested and sustainably sourced timbers are amongst the worlds finest and Alan takes great care to ensure his raw materials are sourced in a manner that does not encourage the ecologically and environmentally harmful process of deforestation.
In an age of cheap disposable product and characterless flat pack uniformity, quality hardwood furniture will last for generations.
Alan’s life passion is working with wood.
From an early age he showed a keen interest in working creatively with his hands, a talent that eventually took him to the world renowned Letterfrack Furniture College in Connemara where his natural talent was fine tuned. He graduated with distinction in 2001, and spent several years travelling the world, surfboard at hand, observing, working with and learning from furniture makers and craftsmen of different cultures and traditions. On returning to Ireland Alan settled in his home county of Kerry on the spectacular South West Coast of Ireland, a beautiful and rugged landscape that informs and influences the unique and individual furniture designed and produced exclusively for you by Alan Hanafin Design.
